Cookie Policy
Last updated: April 26, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how CitizensOS Inc. ("CitizensOS," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on citizensos.ai and related services (the "Services"). It supplements our Privacy Policy.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device to remember information about you, such as your preferences or whether you are signed in. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels, and SDKs in mobile applications. We refer to all of these as "cookies" in this Policy.
Cookies set by CitizensOS directly are called "first-party cookies." Cookies set by third parties on our behalf are called "third-party cookies."
How We Use Cookies
We use cookies for four purposes.
1. Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are required for the Services to function. They cannot be disabled through our cookie controls. Examples:
- Authentication: to keep you signed in and protect your session (set by Supabase).
- Security: to detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
- Load balancing and routing: to deliver the Services reliably (set by Vercel).
- Payments and identity verification: to process payments and conduct identity verification securely (set by Stripe when you are on payment or identity-verification pages).
2. Functional Cookies
These cookies remember your preferences and choices to give you a better experience. Examples:
- Saving your language and region preferences;
- Remembering completed onboarding steps;
- Storing UI preferences such as expanded or collapsed sections.
3. Analytics and Performance Cookies
These cookies help us understand how the Services are used so we can improve them. Specifically, we use analytics to:
- Measure overall traffic, page views, and feature usage;
- Track how users move through our assessment workflows (including the Country Match assessment, the Mobility Asset Match, the Heritage Assessment, the Full Mobility Match Assessment, and the Exit Score flow) so we can identify drop-off points and improve onboarding;
- Track how users engage with our scoring outputs and indices (including Country Match Scores, Asset Match Scores, Country Readiness Scores, the Sovereign Diversification Score, the Plan B Index, the Retiree Index, the Nomad Index, and similar scores or indices) so we can refine our methodology and surface the most useful information;
- Measure performance and reliability of the Services;
- Analyze marketing campaign effectiveness in aggregate.
The analytics providers we may use include product analytics platforms (such as PostHog, Mixpanel, or Amplitude) and traffic analytics platforms (such as Google Analytics or Vercel Analytics). The specific providers in use at any given time are listed in the cookie banner displayed on the Services. We aggregate analytics information; we do not use it to identify individual users for advertising or marketing.
Where required by law, we will only set analytics cookies with your consent.
4. Marketing Cookies
We may set cookies to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and marketing campaigns and to show relevant content. Where required by law, we will only set marketing cookies with your consent.
Managing Cookies
You have several options for controlling cookies:
Cookie banner. When required by law, we display a cookie banner that lets you accept, reject, or customize non-essential cookies before they are set.
Browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies through their settings. Instructions vary by browser:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security
- Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services
Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent the Services from working correctly.
Do Not Track. Some browsers send "Do Not Track" signals. Because there is no industry standard for how to respond to these signals, we do not currently change our practices in response to them. We do honor opt-out preferences set through any cookie banner we display.
Mobile devices. On mobile devices, you can limit ad tracking through your device settings (e.g., "Limit Ad Tracking" on iOS or "Opt out of Ads Personalization" on Android).
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, law, or our practices. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
